How to Get the Good Ending in 99 Nights in the Forest
The good ending needs two things done together: find and rescue all four missing children scattered around the map, and survive all the way through night 99. Missing even one child, or dying at any point, gives you the bad ending instead.

What the good ending actually requires
Pocket Gamer's endings guide lays out both conditions plainly: you need all four missing children in your camp, and you need to still be alive when night 99 ends. Get both right and you unlock a cutscene where the Deer watches from a distance before disappearing, rather than a text screen just telling you that you won.
How the bad ending happens
Reaching night 99 without every child rescued counts as the bad ending, and so does dying at any point in the run, even on night 98 with all four children already found. There is no partial credit, the run has to end with both conditions met at once.
Tips for getting there
Upgrade your campfire early and use the extra range it gives you to explore for children and useful locations sooner rather than later. Do not rush the search at the cost of your own survival, a dead run with three children found still ends badly. If you are playing with others, splitting roles, some players hunting for children, others managing the base and supplies, covers more ground without leaving your camp undefended.
FAQ
What happens if I die before rescuing all four children in 99 Nights in the Forest?
You get the bad ending. Dying at any point in the run counts as a failure, even if you had already found some or all of the children.

Do you have to survive all 99 nights to win?
Yes. Even with all four children rescued, you still need to survive through night 99 for the good ending. Rescuing the kids and dying afterward still counts as the bad ending.
