Steal an Egg Rift event: every egg, the boss fight, and the damage rule

What the Rifts Are Opening update added

Steal an Egg shipped its Rift event on September 5, 2026. Rifts open across the server every 30 minutes, a boss called the Abyss Overlord spawns inside, and killing it pays Boss Tokens you spend in a dedicated Boss Shop. The reason it matters beyond the loot: this is the biggest game on Roblox adding its first real raid-style fight. An API pull on September 7 put Steal an Egg at 2,103,290 concurrent players and over 2.05 billion lifetime visits, roughly four times Blox Fruits. Whatever this event does to the economy happens at a scale nothing else on the platform matches right now.

You have to actually hit the boss to get the Secret Rift Egg

This is the part worth reading before you log in. The Secret Rift Egg is not a participation prize. You have to register damage on the Abyss Overlord to receive it, confirmed by an on-screen line reading "You got a Secret Rift Egg!" when it lands. Turn up late, stand at the back and contribute nothing, and you walk away with nothing, no matter who else killed it. Respawns are unlimited and falling off the arena edge only costs you time, so there is no reason to hang back. Get a hit in early.

Where rifts spawn, and how to find one

Every 30 minutes, with a warning that reads "Abyss Overlord is spawning in 30 seconds." That is your travel time, so start moving on the warning rather than after it. On location, guides broadly agree and we will say so plainly rather than pretending it is settled. Portals favour the distant biomes, with the Titan Temple biome named most often and the Cherry Blossom zone also cited. Sportskeeda and Pro Game Guides both point at Titan Temple. It is not a fixed spawn point, but it is not uniformly random either, so if you are picking a place to wait, wait there. The portal is a glowing purple tear with a heavy aura around it. Rifts are shared rather than instanced, so everyone on the server can pile into the same one.

The fight, in two phases

Phase one is the crystals. The Abyss Overlord is immune while its ring of crystals is intact, and each crystal has only 35 HP, so they come down fast. Every crystal you break takes a chunk off the boss health bar directly. Phase two is the arms. Once the shield is gone the Overlord slams, and the slam exposes its arms for a short window. That window is your damage. Red circles on the ground telegraph incoming slams, so read them and move. Kill the arms and you can finish the body. A clear pays 1,200 to 1,500 Boss Tokens straight into your inventory.

What is in each rift egg

Three eggs drop from the event, at 45%, 35% and 20%. Riftborn Egg, 45%: Rift Eye (Legendary, 11K/s) at 45%, Voidmaw (Mythic, 50K/s) at 36%, Ventinal (Cosmic, 585K/s) at 15%, Wendigo (Secret, 15M/s) at 4%, and World Eater (Eternal, 500M/s) at 0.5%. Riftbeasts Egg, 35%: Void Angler, Riftwing, Dreadclaw, Mawbreaker and Void Serpent. Void Serpent is the Eternal chase at 0.5% and earns 900M/s. Shattered Rift Egg, 20%: Shardling, Shattered Ram, Shardwing, Shattered Drake and Shattered Colossus. Shattered Colossus is Divine, 0.5%, and earns 3.5B/s, the highest rate the event offers. Note the shape of that: the rarest egg holds the best pet, so a Shattered Rift drop is worth more than two Riftborns.

The Secret Rift Egg, and why the variant matters more than the pet

The Secret Rift Egg can hatch the Abyss Overlord itself as a Secret-tier companion. The pet name is not the interesting part. The variant is, and the spread is enormous: Golden earns 1.5B/s, Rainbow 1.1B/s, Silver 515M/s, and the plain base pet 1.2M/s. That is a Golden paying more than a thousand times the base version of the same pet. If you are deciding whether to keep grinding rifts, you are not grinding for the Abyss Overlord, you are grinding for a Golden one.

The Boss Shop, and a correction on Fractured

Tokens spend on four things: 10-minute 2x Cash Booster, 175 tokens. 10-minute 2x Treadmill Booster, 200 tokens. 5-minute 1.25x Speed Boost, 225 tokens. And the 10% Mutation Consumable that applies the Fractured Mutation, 400 tokens. We described Fractured in an earlier version of this post as a permanent purchase adding a flat 10% to money earned. That was wrong and we have corrected it. It is a consumable, applied per pet, and it has to land before the egg hatches or the pet comes out plain. Buying one does not upgrade your account; it upgrades one pet, once, if you use it in time.

Is this worth your time?

If you can reliably get a hit in on the boss, yes. A clear costs a few minutes and pays 1,200 to 1,500 tokens plus a Secret Rift Egg, and the ceiling on that egg is a pet earning over a billion per second. If you are joining late and cannot land damage before it dies, you are spending time for nothing. Rifts run every 30 minutes, so waiting for the next one and arriving on the warning beats chasing one that is already half dead. What is still unknown

Whether the event is permanent or timed. Nobody has published an end date and the developers have not stated one. Whether the drop rates above are officially published or community measured. Treat them as community figures that multiple guides agree on rather than developer confirmed numbers. Whether Fractured stacks with other mutations, and whether the Secret Rift Egg variant odds differ from normal variant odds. Neither has been documented anywhere we can find. One thing that is not unknown, and which an earlier version of this post wrongly said was: the full egg contents. Those were published on September 5 and updated September 8. We missed them and have corrected it.
