GTA 6 Grassrivers: everything Rockstar has actually shown
Grassrivers is GTA 6's wetlands region, Rockstar's version of the Florida Everglades, built around airboats, alligators and a scattering of small towns like Watson Bay. Rockstar's own postcard copy calls it "the untamable jewel of Leonida's crown," warning that "the gators may be the most famous attraction, but there are far deadlier predators and weirder discoveries among the mangroves."

What Grassrivers actually is
Grassrivers is one of six regions Rockstar has named inside the state of Leonida, alongside Vice City, the Leonida Keys, Port Gellhorn, Ambrosia and Mount Kalaga National Park, all named in Rockstar's second trailer on May 6, 2025. It spans two of the state's named counties, Vice-Dale and Mariana, running along the southwest of the map as a stretch of flooded grassland rather than a single town. The name is a nod to the region's real world inspiration. Grassrivers is Rockstar's version of the Everglades, and it echoes "River of Grass," the phrase Marjory Stoneman Douglas used for the real Everglades in her 1947 book The Everglades: River of Grass. Rockstar's own postcard copy leans into the wildness: "Welcome to the wetlands. The untamable jewel of Leonida's crown. You never know what lies beneath the surface of this primordial expanse." For how Grassrivers fits into the rest of Leonida's map, this site has a separate region by region breakdown. This post stays inside Grassrivers itself.
The wildlife Rockstar has actually shown
Alligators are the headline wildlife, but Rockstar's own copy for the region undersells them on purpose: "The gators may be the most famous attraction, but there are far deadlier predators and weirder discoveries among the mangroves." Official screenshots also show flamingos in the region, in numbers large enough that outlets covering the reveal described the group with the correct collective term, a flamboyance. Rockstar has also confirmed an in-fiction wildlife enforcement agency for the region, POACH, short for Protection of Animals and Controlled Hunting, an obvious pun on poaching. Official screenshots and trailer footage show POACH running a small fleet built for the terrain: a Montagne SUV, a Police Maverick helicopter and an airboat of its own, all painted silver with yellow and green decals. It reads as Rockstar's version of the real Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission, and its presence is the clearest sign yet that Grassrivers has its own law enforcement story separate from Vice City's police.

Watson Bay: the fishing town on the wetlands' edge
Watson Bay is the clearest named town Rockstar has shown inside Grassrivers, confirmed by a water tower visible in an official screenshot that carries the town's name. It sits west of Vice City, built as a close rendition of Cedar Key, Florida, a real fishing town on Florida's Gulf coast. Watson Bay's own name likely nods to Edgar J. Watson, a real historical figure tied to killings around Chokoloskee Bay in the Everglades in the early 1900s, the kind of dark, specific reference Rockstar has leaned on elsewhere in Leonida. Two named businesses sit on the Watson Bay waterfront. Bite House is a seafood restaurant modeled on the real Restaurants of 83 West at 310 Dock Street in Cedar Key, shown from the rear in an official screenshot. Paradise Garage is a personal garage with vehicle storage, a weapon locker and a stolen goods deposit, and Rockstar has confirmed it as Ultimate Edition content, locked out of the $79.99 Standard Edition the same way several Vice City customization shops are.

Sunrise RV Park and life off Vice City's grid
Away from Watson Bay, Rockstar's screenshots for the August 27, 2026 Extended Look also placed Sunrise RV Park on the west side of Grassrivers, on the bank of a river. It is a trailer park, not a tourist stop, and it reads as Grassrivers' version of the rural, out of the way communities Rockstar built into GTA 5's Blaine County: a place people live and work, not a postcard location. Rockstar has not detailed who lives there or whether it plays into the story beyond appearing in the background of official art.
Airboats, the region's signature vehicle
The airboat is Grassrivers' signature vehicle, first shown all the way back in the December 2023 reveal trailer, which cuts to an airboat crossing green wetlands at the 0:19 mark and to wildlife a second later at 0:20. It returned in the August 27, 2026 Extended Look, where Engadget's breakdown of the footage describes Jason and Lucia riding what it calls a fan boat through the same kind of terrain. Fan documentation of the vehicle points to it being modeled on a real Panther brand airboat, consistent with the small, low riding hull and rear mounted fan seen in both trailers. Rockstar has not given the in-game vehicle a name of its own yet.

How Grassrivers fits into the wider map
Grassrivers is built as the opposite of Vice City on purpose. Where Vice City is dense, vertical and mapped out street by street in Rockstar's marketing, Grassrivers is open water and grassland, navigated by airboat rather than by road, and its only named settlements so far, Watson Bay and Sunrise RV Park, are a fishing town and a trailer park rather than neighborhoods with their own skylines. That contrast is deliberate framing on Rockstar's part, not something outlets are reading into the footage. The region sits alongside Vice City, the Leonida Keys, Port Gellhorn, Ambrosia and Mount Kalaga National Park as one of six named pieces of Leonida, a state this site has covered separate size comparisons for in its map regions guide.
What is still unknown
Rockstar has not said how much of Grassrivers is drivable and explorable at launch versus background scenery captured for trailers and screenshots, and it has not detailed how POACH functions as a gameplay system, whether it is a wanted style enforcement mechanic or purely set dressing. Watson Bay and Sunrise RV Park are the only two named settlements confirmed so far; whether more towns sit inside the region has not been said. Nor has Rockstar detailed how, or whether, Grassrivers connects into the main story beyond appearing in trailer footage alongside Jason and Lucia. Until Rockstar publishes a labeled map of the region's internal geography, treat any block by block layout you see elsewhere as reconstruction, not confirmation.
