Is GTA 6 coming to PC? What Rockstar has actually said

As of September 2026, GTA 6 has no PC version, no PC release date and no PC storefront named anywhere by Rockstar or Take-Two. The November 19, 2026 launch is PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X and S only, Rockstar's August 27 Extended Look reveal did not mention PC at all, and based on how long GTA 5 and Red Dead Redemption 2 took to reach PC after their console launches, a PC version is likely eventually but probably not for well over a year after November 19.

How solid is this? Confirmed by the publisher or an official channel.

The honest answer

Grand Theft Auto 6 is not confirmed for PC. As of September 2026, Rockstar has announced exactly two platforms for launch, PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X and S, on November 19, 2026, and has not named a PC storefront, a PC release window, or PC system requirements anywhere. That is the entire official position: two consoles, one date, nothing else. That is not the same as Rockstar ruling PC out. Every mainline Grand Theft Auto game and every Red Dead Redemption game has eventually reached PC. The honest answer to "is GTA 6 coming to PC" is: almost certainly yes, eventually, and nobody outside Rockstar knows when, because Rockstar hasn't said.

The August 27 Extended Look said nothing about it

Rockstar's "GTA VI: An Extended Look" premiered on Netflix on August 27, 2026, roughly 26 minutes of footage captured in game on PS5. SVG covered the reveal specifically for what it left out and found nothing: PC "wasn't addressed. Not indirectly, not directly. Not at all." The video also skipped any mention of GTA Online or multiplayer, so PC wasn't singled out for silence; Rockstar simply didn't talk about anything beyond the single-player game running on the two confirmed consoles. If Rockstar had a PC announcement ready, the biggest marketing moment of the year so far would have been an obvious place to fold it in. It didn't happen, which is itself information, even though it proves nothing about what happens after November 19.

Take-Two's own earnings call didn't mention it either

Take-Two reported its first quarter fiscal 2027 results on August 7, 2026, the same call where CEO Strauss Zelnick called GTA 6 pre-order demand "unprecedented and astonishing." According to the Motley Fool's transcript of the call, company president Karl Slatoff's prepared remarks listed the release in one line: "Grand Theft Auto VI Release Date, Nov. 19, 2026, on PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S." No PC, no Steam, no Epic Games Store. Zelnick did talk more broadly on the same call about the industry "continuing to move to open systems" and PC gaming's growth, and said personal computers "work great as game machines." Read against the actual transcript, those comments are about Take-Two's business in general, not a platform confirmation for this specific game. It's worth separating the two, because the difference between an industry observation and a product announcement matters.

The pattern from GTA 5 and Red Dead Redemption 2

Rockstar has a consistent history of console first, PC later, and the exact gaps are on the record. Grand Theft Auto IV launched on PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360 on April 29, 2008 and reached Windows on December 2, 2008, a 7 month gap. Grand Theft Auto V launched on PS3 and Xbox 360 on September 17, 2013; its PC version slipped twice, first to January 7, 2015, then to March 24, 2015, before finally launching April 14, 2015, a 19 month gap from the original console date. Red Dead Redemption 2 launched on PS4 and Xbox One on October 26, 2018 and reached Windows on November 5, 2019 through the Rockstar Games Launcher and the Epic Games Store, arriving on Steam about a month later in December 2019, a gap of just over 12 months. That's a 7 to 19 month range across three games, with no fixed rule inside it. Whatever GTA 6's PC gap turns out to be, it has landed inside that range twice out of three times and outside it once.

What that pattern would put GTA 6 at, and why it's a guess, not a promise

Applying that same 7 to 19 month range to a November 19, 2026 console launch would put a hypothetical PC version somewhere between roughly June 2027 and June 2028. That range is wide enough to be close to useless as a prediction, and there's a specific reason to be cautious even about that: GTA 6 has already slipped twice, from an original 2025 window to May 2026 and then to November 2026, and a game with that development history doesn't necessarily follow the same internal timeline as three earlier titles that shipped closer to their original schedules. Treat the 7 to 19 month range as what Rockstar has done before, not as a countdown Rockstar has started.

Which storefronts, if the past repeats

Nothing has been announced, but the last two PC ports point to a likely shape. Red Dead Redemption 2 launched on PC through the Rockstar Games Launcher and the Epic Games Store first, with Steam following about a month later. Grand Theft Auto V's PC version launched through Rockstar's own launcher and Steam simultaneously in 2015, before the Epic Games Store existed as a major competitor. If GTA 6 follows the more recent pattern, expect Rockstar's launcher on day one with Epic and Steam either simultaneous or staggered by weeks, not months, but that is inference from two prior launches, not anything Rockstar has said about this game.

What we still don't know

Rockstar has not announced a PC release date, a PC storefront, PC system requirements, or PC pricing for GTA 6. Neither the August 27 Extended Look nor the August 7 earnings call addressed any of it, and nothing has changed since. Red Dead Redemption 2's PC version included Red Dead Online in full at launch, so there's no fixed rule that a delayed PC port also delays online features, but Rockstar hasn't said anything about how a GTA 6 online mode would factor into a PC version, or whether one would exist at PC launch at all. Anyone telling you a specific PC date, price or feature set right now is guessing; we'll update this post the moment Rockstar says anything official.

FAQ

Will GTA 6 come to PC?

Almost certainly, eventually. Every mainline GTA and Red Dead Redemption game has reached PC. Rockstar hasn't announced a date, storefront or system requirements for GTA 6 as of September 2026.

When will GTA 6 release on PC?

No date has been announced. Rockstar's past three console-to-PC gaps ranged from 7 months (GTA 4) to 19 months (GTA 5), with Red Dead Redemption 2 landing at just over 12 months. Applied to the November 19, 2026 console launch, that range points to somewhere between mid-2027 and mid-2028, but that's a pattern, not a promise.

Did Rockstar mention PC in the GTA 6 Extended Look?

No. The August 27, 2026 Extended Look on Netflix did not address PC, or GTA Online, at all, according to SVG's coverage of the reveal.

Did Take-Two confirm GTA 6 for PC on its earnings call?

No. Take-Two's August 7, 2026 earnings call listed the release as PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X and S only. CEO Strauss Zelnick made broader comments about PC gaming's growth on the same call, but those were about the industry generally, not a platform confirmation for GTA 6.
