Dazed magazine broke this before Rockstar's own trailer did. Journalist Thom Waite's exclusive deep dive, published August 26, 2026 as part of Dazed's Autumn 2026 print issue, quoted Rockstar's own material directly: "Yes, there are working social media feeds, what satirical take on 2020s America would be complete without them?" That is the origin report, and it ran a full day before the Extended Look aired. TheGamer picked up the story the same day, calling Dazed's piece the game's first proper preview to officially confirm the feature. TheGamer traced the buildup to hints in the first trailer, plus a leaked Amazon Brazil product description that further pointed to the system, landing in the middle of what the outlet called a pretty hectic week for GTA 6 leaks. Rockstar's own Extended Look then showed the feed working on screen on August 27, 2026, when a character is shown scrolling it during downtime, which is the kind of confirmation everyone could see for themselves rather than take on a magazine's word.
How you actually see it in the game
The feed lives on the character's in-game phone, not a separate app you boot up from a menu. Dazed's preview describes players scrolling it while riding as a passenger, handing the phone-scrolling business to whichever of Jason or Lucia is not driving. Their rise, according to Dazed's preview, plays out through viral posts on the in-game feed, meaning a player who actually reads what scrolls past can follow a running storyline about a fictional celebrity rather than seeing the same static screen every time. TheGamer's framing of the same preview puts it plainly: players can follow the careers of the game's rising celebrities and watch their posts go viral on the platform. That is a step past GTA 5's approach, where a website's content was fixed text you could reread but never watch develop.
It is not the only piece of online satire in the game
Two related systems showed up in the same Extended Look. SVG's August 27, 2026 coverage confirms Snapmatic, GTA 5's photo sharing app, returns, referenced by a character during the presentation itself. Separately, livestreaming is now a gameplay mechanic. The trailer follows a streamer named Camilo doing a trunk challenge while being chased by actual police, shouting "the actual cops are chasing us" for the stream. Players can expand the chat and choose to view the livestream during the sequence. It satirizes stunt streaming rather than celebrity gossip, but it draws from the same well: Rockstar building out how online attention works inside Leonida instead of treating it as one throwaway joke.
How this differs from GTA 5's Bleeter and Lifeinvader
GTA 5 had its own social media satire, Bleeter standing in for a Twitter style feed and Lifeinvader for a Facebook style one, both reachable through the in-game internet on a character's phone or a desktop computer. Neither one moved on its own. The posts were written text that occasionally changed after a story mission fired a trigger, but nothing about them felt alive between those triggers. What Dazed and Rockstar have shown of GTA 6's feed is different in kind, not just presentation: a storyline like the Real Dimez plays out in posts a player can watch develop, on a platform embedded into ordinary passenger and downtime moments rather than something you have to seek out on a computer at a safehouse.
What is rumor, not yet confirmed
Khelnow's August 30, 2026 report, sourced to content creator TGG's preview visit to Rockstar North rather than to Rockstar itself, describes a wider spread of in-game apps: a ride hailing app called RideMe, a vehicle information app called Waink that shows a car's security level and resale value, plus messaging, banking and a fitness tracker that reminds a character to exercise. None of that is Rockstar confirmed, and khelnow is explicit that it comes from an unofficial preview, not an announcement. Earlier speculation, from a June 26, 2026 AllThings.How roundup written before Dazed's preview existed, floated the idea that scrolling the feed could surface secret side missions, effectively working as a live quest board. That framing predates any actual confirmation, and Rockstar has not said the feed does anything of the sort. Treat it as an unconfirmed guess, not a feature.
What we still do not know
Rockstar has not given the feed an in-universe name the way Bleeter and Lifeinvader had names in GTA 5. Whether it is one app or several, whether posts change based on what the player personally does, and whether Snapmatic and the celebrity gossip feed are the same app or two separate ones are all things nobody has confirmed yet, including Dazed's preview.
