Where to watch it right now
As of September 2026, the full GTA 6 Extended Look is free to watch anytime, no subscription needed. Rockstar hosts it on its own YouTube channel and on the official GTA VI site, rockstargames.com/VI, where it has been live since the evening of August 27, 2026. You do not need Netflix. The Netflix window was a six hour head start, not a permanent home for the video. Once that window closed, Rockstar put the same footage up for free, and it has stayed up since.
Why Netflix had it first
Rockstar announced what it called a first of its kind partnership with Netflix on August 6, 2026, giving the streaming service an exclusive early window on the Extended Look before it went anywhere else. That date matters: it was over a week before unauthorized gameplay clips from the leaker known as CyberLeek started spreading online on August 18, 2026. The Netflix deal and the premiere date were locked in before those leaks began, and when Rockstar addressed the leaks directly in a public statement on August 26, it did not tie that statement to the following day's premiere. This was a one time media placement for the trailer, not a sign the game itself is coming to the service.
The exact release schedule
The Extended Look premiered on Netflix at 12pm PT / 3pm ET on Thursday, August 27, 2026. Six hours later, at 6pm PT / 9pm ET the same day, it went up for free on Rockstar's YouTube channel and the GTA VI website. For viewers outside North America, the free YouTube version landed at 2am BST and 3am CEST on August 28, and at 10am JST and 11am AEST that same morning, six hours behind each region's Netflix premiere time. Rockstar and Netflix held the schedule exactly as announced. There was no delay, and no early leak of the Netflix cut before the six hour exclusivity window closed.
Netflix's cut vs the free version
There was a real quality difference during the exclusive window. Viewers on Netflix's cheaper, ad supported and standard tiers saw the presentation capped at 1080p, tied to their plan's normal streaming limit. The version that went up on YouTube and the GTA VI website afterward is free to everyone in 4K, with no account or subscription required. If you watched it on Netflix on a lower tier during the first six hours, the free version on YouTube is the higher resolution copy of the same footage.
Skip the reuploads and reaction clips
Search for the Extended Look and you will also find dozens of reaction videos, fan reuploads and clipped highlight cuts. None of those are the source. Some crop the footage, some run it through upscalers that invent detail that was never really there, and none of them are the exact version Rockstar published. The two official homes are Rockstar's own YouTube channel and rockstargames.com/VI. Anything else, however polished it looks, is a copy of a copy.
Is it staying up
There is no indication Rockstar plans to take the Extended Look down. It was still listed as Now Playing on the official GTA VI site as of early September 2026, alongside the game's two earlier cinematic trailers, which have stayed live on the same site since they were first posted. Treat it as a permanent upload rather than a limited time promotion.
What is still unknown
Rockstar has not said whether it will repeat a streaming exclusive for future GTA 6 marketing, or whether the Netflix deal covers anything beyond this one video. Rockstar has not published exact view counts for either the Netflix premiere or the YouTube upload. And Rockstar has not said when, or if, another marketing beat will follow before the November 19, 2026 release. We will update this post if any of that changes.
